My name is Thomas, and I’ll be writing and editing this blog which will cover many of the activities and events ran by the English Department here at IES Pintor Antonio López.

For International Human Rights Day, which takes place on December 10th every year, students at IES Pintor Antonio López took action by participating in the Write for Rights campaign, which is led by Amnesty International. Students focused on 9 cases around the globe where people have had their basic human rights violated. These cases ranged from violations of freedom of expression to access to healthcare. Students of all levels wrote letters to take action, demanding that the powers at play in each case immediately and unconditionally remediate the situation, whether that be releasing the persecuted person from prison, or stopping further persecution. All together, students wrote over 150 letters! This activity helped students not only practice their English, but to find their voice in standing up for what is right!
Here at I.E.S Pintor Antonio López, students are working hard on the path to diplomacy!
December 12th: Mock Conference at IES Pintor Antonio López.

The English department celebrated Halloween in the best way possible — having the students participate by having a bake sale to raise funds for those in need. Students who wanted to participate were asked to bake a spooky treat, and the participant with the most creative treat won a prize. Happy Halloween to all!
