COVID-19 Update - Announcement of Campus Reopening

January 27, 2021

Dear KIS Community,

We have just received notification from the Ministry of Education that we will be permitted to open campus for all grades on Monday, Feb. 1. This is very good news. KIS, therefore, will begin on-campus learning on Monday unless we hear updates from authorities that reverse this approval.

In advance of this good news, each family must complete this new risk assessment form by Friday, Jan. 29 at 9:00am. The self-declaration will need to be completed in order for students to access campus on Monday.

Please see additional informational items related to this announcement.

  • Expect additional information over the next day regarding reopening details from your child’s divisional principal.

  • During the initial reopening phase, only staff, students, and those with an approved appointment may enter the KIS campus. Ms. June, the Primary Principal, will clarify the procedures for parents of our youngest students in her forthcoming letter.

  • Safeguarding precautions continue to be required as follows:

      1. mask-wearing (remembering to cover both the nose and mouth)

      2. physical distancing

      3. regular hand-washing and sanitizing

      4. approved vendors and other visitors will be required to utilize the Thai Chana application to assist with contact tracing. The KIS ID card swiping system serves as an excellent and reliable contract tracing tool for KIS Community members, and therefore they are not required to additionally use the Thai Chana application.

  • Anyone who has not completed the KIS risk assessment form will not be able to enter the campus.

  • Field trips are postponed until further notice.

  • Ms. Shelley, Director of Athletics and Activities will be communicating soon with an update on the status of extra curricular programs.

  • We will continue to periodically email the KIS community with updated information regarding high risk locations.

  • During the initial phase of reopening campus, we encourage all of our KIS community to avoid crowded areas and limit unnecessary travel.

We look forward to resuming on-campus learning and appreciate your assistance in adhering strictly to the above guidelines.

Kind regards,

Paul Johnson
