Language Arts 6

Language arts consists of four sub-studies: reading, writing, listening & speaking, and language (grammar). Students will participate in whole class lessons, followed by time to work with me, in pairs, in small groups and, most important, independently in order to master the learning targets.

The district-adopted SpringBoard curriculum is the primary learning source for Language Arts classes. We will follow the Common Core Standards and use a combination of SpringBoard, Language Live!, Slingerland and Wired for Reading curriculums to create a multi-sensory Language Arts experience. Embedded within each unit are assessments that align with the theme and allow students to independently demonstrate their progress toward the learning targets.

6th grade students will have an enriching year strengthening their reading, writing and communication skills.
