Lesson Plan Calendar Quarter 1
Grading Policy:
Grading will occur on a variety of assignments including writing, discussion and public speaking, group work, outside reading, tests, quizzes, presentations, and participation.
It is the responsibility of the student to keep track of his/her grades. Scores will be recorded into PowerSchool, and then most papers will be returned. The grading scale can be found in the student handbook. Students and parents are encouraged to talk to the teacher about grades and ways to improve academic success.
Behavior Expectations:
Students are expected to behave in a manner that displays self-discipline in both word and action, demonstrate a desire to align with Edon Northwest’s rules and policies, and have sustained effort to achieve academic growth.
Students will be expected to act and speak with intention, respond effectively to both teacher and peer communication, and to take ownership of his/her own learning process and development.
Online Lesson Plans and Google Classroom(s):
Students will be expected to visit the teacher’s websites and/or GoogleClassroom to view weekly lesson plans, assignments, and any additional resources, lessons, or notes that may be posted.
Attendance:
If a student misses a day of school it is his/her responsibility to ask for the lesson, notes, activities, and any other work that was missed. If a test or quiz was missed, then an appointment will be made with the teacher to take the test or quiz. If the student does not ask for what was missed he/she will earn a zero on that assignment. Once a zero is issued, the student may no longer make up that assignment.
Assignments:
It is the responsibility of the student to complete the homework and assignments when. No credit will be given for work done in anything but pencil, blue, or black ink. If the homework or assignments are illegible, plagiarized, or copied from another student it will not be accepted.
Late work will not be accepted.
Independent Reading: Novel and Article of Week (AoW)
Students are expected to read a grade level appropriate books and articles, as assigned, throughout the school year. There will be a written graded assignment for each assignment that will show students’ comprehension and analytical skills.
Mrs. Wolfe reserves the right to place regulations on book selections and warrant books inappropriate.
Computers/Technology:
Students will be expected to complete major projects, research, and other tasks on chromebooks. Many assignments will be completed using Google Suite products and Google Classroom. Students are expected to properly utilize programs to access assignments and submit for grading.
Students’ personal cell phones, tablets, and/or laptops are not permitted.
Strikes:
Students will be given strikes if he/she fails to meet behavioral expectations of the teachers. The strikes will accumulate each week in (at least) the four core classes.
1 Strike: --
2 Strikes: Hallway conference
3 Strikes: After school detention (30 min) and parent contact
4 Strikes: Referral to principal and Friday detention (1 hour)
5 Strikes: ISS
*Possible strike offenses: unprepared for class (including homework), tardy, poor behavior, insubordination, misuse of technology, disrespect to teachers or others, non-compliance to classroom procedures, disregard for classroom/school rules (including dress code).
Academic Dishonesty:
Students are expected to complete their own assignments and tasks without the use of online materials, peer work, or obtaining answers by any other means.
Level 1: Copying, working together, sharing answers on homework or class tasks.
1st Offense: zero on paper for all students involved and phone call to parents.
2nd Offense: zero on paper for all students involved, phone call to parents, and after school detention.
3rd Offense: zero on paper for all students involved, phone call to parents, and office referral with the recommendation for ISS.
Level 2: Copying, cheating, looking at answers, or using a phone or device for an assignment.
1st Offense: zero on paper for all students involved, phone call to parents, and after school detention.
2nd Offense: zero on paper for all students involved, phone call to parents, and office referral with the recommendation for ISS.
Level 3: Plagiarizing written essays or reports by taking ideas from another student or from online resources.
1stt Offense: zero on paper for all students involved, phone call to parents, and after school detention.
2nd Offense: zero on paper for all students involved, phone call to parents, and office referral with the recommendation for ISS.
