Teacher Expectations:
Students attend class regularly, communicate with teacher about scheduled absences, and obtain and complete make-up work.
Students come to classes prepared and ready to work. This includes having all needed materials, homework and prep work completed, and limited requests to use class time for other needs.
Students will appropriately use their own technology as well as technology provided by the school. Student’s personal devices should be put away during direct instruction and student work time unless permission is granted by teacher for use. No technology should be present during assessments. School provided technology should be well cared for and properly handled and put away each day.
Students need to check grades and progress regularly and communicate with teacher as concerns arise. English 12 is required for graduation and students at risk of failing should seek assistance early in the semester.
Homework: Homework is assigned as a means to practice skills. We may go over homework during the class period following the assignment; therefore, some late homework may not be accepted. Alternative assignments could be assigned which address the same objectives to ensure learning occurs. Students should be reading outside of class, revising essays, and reviewing vocabulary and other materials covered in the lessons. If homework cannot be completed at home, students are encouraged to seek extra help and stay after school.
Late/Missing Work: It is the student’s responsibility to initiate make-up missing work. This can be done prior to class starting or after school. If a student does not attempt the work or is absent for an assignment, he/she will receive an Incomplete for that assignment. After one week, the incomplete will be change to a zero unless the assignment is completed and submitted.
