I love to teach, and teaching Second Grade is so much fun it should be illegal. I look forward each year to a new class of happy faces and eager learners. Teaching Reading is truly a labor of love for me, and now that we are using the Spalding Method, we are seeing great results with our students. Our curriculum in Social Studies takes us deep into History, which is one of my passions. I have taught in many different settings including young children in a Montessori school, English to international students, and Reading/Math in the Texas prison system. My personal hero in education is Dr. Maria Montessori who recognized process (learning) is far more important than product (test scores). Good process results in good product.
I am the granddaughter of Greek immigrants and grew up in a large, loud family where I witnessed spirited debate on politics, baseball, (Go ‘Stros!), and the price of tomatoes that week. I often say my family would set the alarm early just to engage in a good debate. I am richly blessed to have two grown children, a wonderful son-in-love, and three grandchildren who delight me in more ways than I can count. In my spare time, I love to read, draw, watch cheesy Hallmark movies, and spend time making memories with family and friends, where we do not debate the price of tomatoes.
