Hello! My name is Janie Boyd, and I love teaching 2nd grade here at The Woodlands Classical Academy. I grew up in Texas and am originally from Silsbee. I have two wonderful children a son, 16, and a daughter, 10.
I studied and have a degree in Behavioral Sciences- Psychology from University of Houston- Clear Lake, TX with a concentration in Women’s Studies. Prior to that, I studied music as a Vocal Performance major at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. I come from a long line of educators, and have a background as a community Educator and a preschool teacher for 8 years. I decided 5 years ago to become an elementary teacher and worked at The Woodlands Classical Academy as a 2nd grade math and science teacher for 3 years. Last year, I took the opportunity to teach 4th grade at another campus, and I am so excited to be back home at WCA in the 2nd grade!
I consider it a privilege to teach and care for each child that enters my class. Every child is unique and learns differently, so I make it my priority to embrace and implement all learning styles. I also firmly believe that learning can and should be fun, and that is what I strive for in my classroom! I love to fill my classroom with song and movement every day! What better way to learn as music is the universal language!
