Mr. Pool earned his Bachelor of Arts in English in 2013 and his Master of Arts in English in 2015 from Tarleton State University. While an undergraduate, Mr. Pool tutored at TSU’s University Writing Center and wrote for the student newspaper. He has taught college English courses at Tarleton, Tarrant County College, and Texas Women’s University, and currently teaches for North Central Texas College in STEM Academy’s dual credit program. He has taught high school English for ResponsiveEd since 2015.
While not initially an English major, his love of English was rekindled by an English professor he had in college, and a desire to teach English grew out of that experience. His inspiration for teaching English comes from the power that good writing has. He also believes that literature in all its forms is like a candle in the dark; it can be a powerful tool for understanding each other as human beings and breaking through cultural barriers. His ultimate goal in teaching is to have a profound and positive impact on the kids in his classroom. He feels that if a student one day can look back and say that he inspired and enriched their life through learning the same way that his teachers did for him, then he will know he has been successful.
