Dress Code / Uniform Code (See DRESS CODE – School Uniforms in ResponsiveED Handbook)
Note:
In the dress code section, I've placed some italicized notes related to this item. As we create our culture this first year, we know our students will do more to project that culture than anyone else can. We need our students to look their best because we believe our campus is the best there is to offer in education today. STEM is a university style campus. STEM is a campus focused on a student’s academic, professional and personal development. We are committed to a scholarly environment that raises the expectations of everyone engaged with our school. High level and rigorous campuses have a culture of excellence that can be felt and experienced throughout the school and throughout the day. We have high expectations for our students. How we dress, how we present ourselves each day, matters. We will present ourselves well and that begins with how we dress. While there may be countless options, in countless schools, for a dress code, we believe that our code gives enough freedom but maintains a standard of excellence that can represent who we are and why we attend this school. Uniforms may be an option in the future but we decided to implement this code for our opening year, knowing our students will keep a high standard and be able to present a scholarly and professional appearance within these guidelines. If you wear jeans, make it a nice, sharp, clean pair of jeans. Sharp looking polo shirts or nice, collared button shirts. More than a statement of self-expression, your clothing will be a distinctive campus-expression. And that's important. This school will be different and the first sign of that will be what campus visitors see when they walk through our hallways. Come to school sharply dressed. Come to school ready to learn. Let's represent excellence every day.
