Cell Phone Policy (Middle School) (See CELL PHONES AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES in ResponsiveED Handbook)
It is our goal to prevent the misuse of cell phones and avoid unnecessary distractions and issues in the classroom. Our goal is to be intentional and focused on a learning environment at STEM Middle School. Therefore, the following items constitute our cell phone policies to support that goal.
* Students that must bring a cell phone will be required to turn the phone in each morning to their first period teacher. Teachers will store the phones in a secure location in their room until 3:15. All phones will be handed back to students at dismissal. Students attending After School Care will receive their phones when they are picked up. Students may not keep phones in binders, backpacks, lunch boxes, or on their person.
* Occasionally, teachers will allow the use of a phone for a presentation or class activity. Students will have direct supervision and will turn the phone back in before leaving the class.
* Students violating the policy will be prohibited from bringing a cell phone on campus. Cell phones taken from a student during school hours will require a parent to pick it up and pay a $15.00 fee.
