School
iSchool High is a four-year early college high school, enrolling 347 students in grades 9-12. The school opened in the fall of 2011. In the fall of 2013, the first group of Early College High School students, eighteen, gain acceptance and began taking classes at Lone Star College at University Park. Entering the fall of 2017, 147 students are enrolled in at least one college course. iSchool High is fully accredited through the Texas Education Agency and is also accredited through AdvancEd.
Curriculum
The academic program runs on a Mastery-Based Learning Curriculum that allows students to work in an accelerated, personalized, supportive environment. The students work independently through their units and complete a test for each unit. Each course is compiled of ten Unit tests. The credit earned at our school is comparable to a credit earned at any other public school.
iSchool High is an officially designated Early College High School through the Texas Education Agency. Thus, our students have the opportunity to earn an Associates of Arts Degree through Lone Star College and their high school diploma within a four year time frame.
Calculation of GPA
Below is the grading chart for regular, AP and college courses:
* All courses for high school credit, with the exception of courses
for local credit and credits earned in Middle School (Code J), are part of the GPA calculation.
* Any grades recorded as P, F, S, or W are NOT part of the GPA
calculation.
* Final GPA for graduating students is verified by the PEIMS staff
in the last grading period each year. A spreadsheet is sent to the
school confirming which students should receive the top honors.
