Dear Fourth Grade Kids & Families,

Welcome back to another wonderful year at Countryside School! Can you believe how fast the summer has gone by?!! This is a very exciting time for you, your family, and for me!

Allow me to introduce myself! I am Bryana Carlson, your fourth grade teacher. This is my 17th year teaching and I love it as much as the day I started. I have taught grades 1^st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th! I have expertise in Child Development as it was my Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Minnesota. I also have my Masters in Education, with emphasis in elementary education. In 2018 I was teaching second grade overseas in Bangkok, Thailand at an American international school. I loved my yearlong adventure and look forward to sharing about my travels to Thailand, Bali, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Vietnam, Australia, Croatia, and Greece. I went with the purpose to stretch myself as a teacher and to grow in my cultural competency. It was one of the most valuable and significant periods in my adult life! I will be implementing and sharing these lessons with students as we grow together in our social, emotional, and intellectual learning.

Our classroom is a place where our family will be together throughout the year. We will learn to support each other, work together, care for our things and most importantly, take risks! Mistake-making is the best way to learn! All children grow and learn at different rates and my job is to ensure that you are supported and encouraged throughout your journey.

There are lots of opportunities to get to know each other as a big fourth grade family. Those include some outside of the classroom activities like our Fall Engagement, class field trips, family picnic, games day, and more!

Have a great end of the summer! Keep reading books, fishing, skipping rocks, hiking, swimming and enjoying the sunshine! We are going to have a great school year! See you in a few weeks!
