Edible Earth Designs is based on three principles: care for the earth, care for people, and fair share - the last of which is understood as a return of the surplus back to the first two. We draw inspiration from the ethics and teachings of permaculture designers like David Mollison, Toby Hemenway, Star Hawk, David Holmgren, Jenny Pell, and Geoff Lawton, and most indigenous cultures around the world since time immemorial. We aspire to do well for our clients and employees, our environment, and our future.
Our mission is improve local food security and ecological resilience. The permaculture approach is as obsessed with process as it is with goals; thoughtful design planning and ongoing engagement through meaningful garden visits is essential to our success. Plants grow, soils change, and a system matures and evolves - we think it should look good and provide tasty calories, too.
The culmination (or iteration) of our work is, at the end of the day, a collaboration between client, site, and designer. It requires listening to our clients, reading the site, and applying knowledge of a broad range of studies holistically, and creatively.
