Complete the Career Quest Quiz to get an idea of potential jobs that will suit your interests.
Using the careers.govt.nz website, research two potential careers and complete the Pathway to Your Career Worksheet. You can use the results from the Career Quest Quiz or ones that you know you're interested in.
If the career you selected requires training beyond the secondary (high school) level, research the various tertiary instutions (e.g. universities, trade schools) and their programs. Summarize this information in the Tertiary Study Options Worksheet.
Complete the Career & Tertiary Study Interests Google Form.
If you finish early, you can do some of the crafts in the Spreading Postivity Lesson.
The aim of this extended mentor lesson is for mentor teachers, subject teachers, deans and SLT be be aware of the aspirations of our ākonga. You are welcomed to print the resources or just have them assigned digitally on Google Classroom. However, if you do have the students work on the document online, it means that other staff can access this information through tcoll7.
Personally, I know the science department finds this information useful becase we have personalized pathways as some might need a pure science course (biology, chemistry physics) with a specific number of (external) credits (e.g. Engineering at Auckland Uni or Health Science at Otago Uni) and some that can get away with a general science course.
I have also included a Google Form so we can collate this data for an quick snapshot to support ākonga with goal setting and conversations with whānau.
