On October 7, 2024, Edgemont voters approved a $62 million investment in our schools.
The Edgemont School District is dedicated to providing an exceptional education to equip students for college, careers, and life. It’s vital to update our facilities to ensure we are offering a 21st-century educational experience in a comfortable, collaborative, and safe environment. Upgrades would advance academic and extra-curricular opportunities, improve safety, and address aging infrastructure. Rooted in community needs, advised enhancements by our local safety professionals, and in support of our students, this bond will help “build dreams.” This bond captures the here and now and keeps an eye on the future to build a brighter tomorrow for all Edgemont students.
The district has thought deeply about the results of the Bond 2024 “Building Dreams” capital-project plan, which voters collectively declined to approve on May 21, 2024. The proposed improvements were fundamentally rooted in the need to ensure an exceptional 21st-century education for all while upholding the standards of a top-performing school district and prioritizing health and safety.
We appreciate the subsequent community feedback we received and have used these crucial insights as fuel to strategize options that chart our course forward.
As the Board of Education and school district administration reviewed the feedback, we recognized that some of the projects proposed in May require additional community outreach before seeking future authorization from voters. That said, many aspects of the original bond proposal require more immediate attention (e.g., air conditioning, field updates, fortifying instructional space for STEAM initiatives, etc.) as soon as possible. With that in mind, the school district will offer a new bond vote, with a reduced scope, on October 7, 2024. This approach is designed to start moving forward while minimizing escalating costs for proposed improvements.
