Speech Therapy

Mrs. Westbrook

Fun Facts

I have been a speech-language pathologist for 25 years, and I love my job! In addition to serving in schools, I have worked in skilled nursing facilities, home health, and private practice. I have worked at Parker since my oldest son began kindergarten here in 2005. It has been such a blessing to work where all 3 of my sons attended school! Noah is now 19 and a sophomore at Presbyterian College. Patrick is 16 and a junior at Strom Thurmond High School, and Isaac is a 13 year old 8th grader at JET. All three boys play football! I have been married to their dad, Mac, for 23 years. I love reading, taking walks, playing with our dogs, church activities, and Clemson football! My very favorite thing to do is watch my boys play football!

Speech Pathology is my jam! I love working with students on improving their communication skills. We work on all kinds of goals in speech therapy including saying speech sounds correctly, learning new words, phonological awareness skills for reading success, answering questions, higher-level thinking skills like inferring and problem-solving, social skills, and improving fluency. Everything we do in Speech is tied to our South Carolina Standards for Language and Communication.
