About Mrs. Speed

Although I was born in South Carolina, I grew up an Army brat and was an Army spouse for over 20 years. I have been fortunate to live, travel, and teach in various locations both within the United States and abroad. I currently call the CSRA home where my husband and I live with our three teenage children and four rescued pets. Life is full at this time!

I graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Tacoma, WA and received my B.S. degree in Psychology with Biology from Baylor University in Waco, TX. I went on to receive my teaching certificate from the University of North Texas and my M.A. degree from Troy State University.

This is my fifth year teaching at Strom Thurmond High School, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here -- STHS has the best students! I am blessed to work with young people teaching them about a topic I love and demonstrating to them through my words and actions that they are unique individuals who each have a contribution to make. I want my students to be able to justify an opinion with facts and well thought-out arguments and get so excited about a science topic that they ask amazing questions and get other students excited as well. I want each of my students to come to the realization that they are capable of more than they think they are.
