I was raised in the bustling, naval town of Norfolk, Virginia (pictured) by my wonderful parents. I hold a Bachelor's of Arts in English with emphasis on Education from Old Dominion University and an Associates in Veterinary Technology from Northern Virginia Community College. My most memorable jobs are lifeguard/swim instructor, transportation manager, veterinary technician and now English teacher. My teaching career began at the Edgefield County School District Adult Education Center in 2015. My hobbies include agriculture, so I delight in living in a rural community. Additionally, living an easy going life in our busy world, being the best mom, wife and teacher I can be, being active in church, relaxing with a good book and caring for my animals top the list as my favorite activities.
The drive to provide what is best for my students keeps me eager to always learn more. The challenges our students face today require evolving teaching styles to meet those needs. My goal is to include project based learning, individualized learning and collaborative learning through a standards based curriculum that builds academics and character.
Why do I teach? Everyone deserves the knowledge and skills necessary to lead them to enriched, fulfilled lives that they too may share with others.
