Now lets experiment!
Draw the water cycle on the zip lock bag
Fill the zip lock bag ¼ full of water
Add a few drops of food colouring
Tape the bag to a window where there is plenty of sunlight. this is where evaporation will take place
In time you will notice water droplets appearing and fog. This is the condensation. When the droplets begin to fall down this stage is precipitation
Further learning
Demonstrate your understanding of the water cycle through creating a slide show, writing about the cycle or drawing a labelled diagram
Create a Terrarium. This is a small scale example of the Water Cycle. Water it just once, and the plant will maintain itself!
Questions to talk about with your child
Does the sun make water disappear?
Where does water go when it evaporates?
How does it get back down?
