Poke a hole through the lid of the mason jar using a hammer and nail
Cut a strip off the sponge and feed it through the hole. you may like to repeat this to make the hole a little larger
Decorate the jar in bright colours to attract the butterflies. Reds are an excellent choice
Tie string around the jar so it can be hung. It will hang upside down(lid at the base) when finished, so keep this in mind when you are decorating it!
Mix a sugar solution with the ratio of 9:1. 9 parts water and 1 part sugar.
Pour the sugar solution into the jar and screw the lid on tightly. The jar should not leak but you may see the sponge begin to drip
Hang the feeder in an area you would like to see butterflies
