Description of the Activity
Head out into your backyard and keep an eye out for birds (you can also do this on a walk around your local area as well)
Take a photo if you can or write some notes about what they look like
See how many you can find and try to identify
Draw or paint the birds that you see
Download an app on your smartphone or this website to identify the birds
Questions to talk about with your child
Can you work out what the bird might eat from their features (beak, claws etc)?
Do birds that look similar have a similar call?
Why do birds have feathers?
