Dual Credits @ GBC
If you are interested in or planning to take a class at GBC, there is important information that we want you to know!
Please check back frequently for updates.
Note: All dual enrollment classes will be held at GBC campus or online. No classes will be on the Spring Creek High School campus.
Deadline to apply for dual credit classes is the fourth Friday in May
--> MAY 24, 2024 <--
All of the following steps must be completed before that date.
Students who do not complete the application process before the deadline will not be able to take GBC courses as dual credit classes.
Step 1: Have you included Dual Credit courses on your course request form?
Any Dual Credit classes (GBC classes that you want to factor in to your SCHS schedule and transcript) - need to be included in your course requests for scheduling so that we plan them in your SCHS schedule. But you're not done yet - because THAT DOES NOT REGISTER YOU WITH GBC!
Step 2: Do you meet the criteria for high school students taking GBC courses for dual credit?
Sophomores:
you need a 3.5 GPA, no credit deficiencies and no attendance violations
Juniors & Seniors:
you need a 3.0 GPA, no credit deficiencies and no attendance violations
IMPORTANT NOTE: Some classes require a placement test score (SAT, ACT, or Accuplacer) or have prerequisite courses that must be taken before a student may enroll in the requested course; please contact GBC with questions 775-753-2102.
Step 3: Have you completed the online application process?

Follow the steps to apply online at GBC and register for classes through their system ASAP. Make sure you SUBMIT your application BY THE DEADLINE or you will not be able to take those courses as dual credit.
SCHS counselors will review and approve your enrollments with GBC after you complete the online registration process.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you do not submit your application by the deadline, you will not be eligible to take GBC classes as dual credit.
Step 4: Double check in the fall!
When you get your 2024-2025 schedule, make sure your GBC dual credit classes are listed as part of your schedule. That way we make sure those grades will count on your SCHS trancript.
Make sure you know how to access your GBC classes and communicate with your professor(s).
If a class is not showing up on your SCHS schedule AND/OR you do not see a class listed on your GBC dashboard - please contact your counselor immediately so we can get the situation figured out before it's too late in the semester.
Step 5: Don't drop the ball.
Remember - these are college classes. We do not know your professor(s) or have access to your grade(s). So if you have a problem or a question - the people at GBC are probably the ones you need to be talking to.
It is up to you to make sure you are keeping up with your course work and staying on top of assignments.
If you fail a dual credit class - you will receive an F on your SCHS transcript as well. And you will have to make up the credit that the GBC course was supposed to be providing for your high school graduation requirements.
Please contact your counselor with any questions.
