Stefan Gates | Can Eating Insects Save the World?
Author and TV presenter
Stefan is a hugely popular writer and TV presenter with a vast breadth of knowledge. He’s renowned for his love of quirky culinary quests and extraordinary food adventures.
Stefan has written and presented 16 TV series including three series of Cooking in the Danger Zone (BBC2) about global hunger and the politics of food. He has recently finished two BBC4 documentaries: Can Eating Insects Save the World? and Calves Heads and Coffee: the Golden Age of English Food. He has won several awards for his TV series and books. His programmes are shown in over 50 countries around the world.

Alan is an award-winning geography teacher, and author, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and Chartered Geographer.
He won the Ordnance Survey Award for excellence for his teaching in 2008, and the Tivy Medal in 2013. He is a Primary Geography Champion, working as Head of Geography at King’s Ely school, and also created resources for numerous organisations and publishers, including the Mission:Explore series of activity books for children.

Matt has been the Head of Geography at the International School of Toulouse in France since 2009. He has worked for the IB organisation producing online training courses for teachers and jointly administers a support group of over 1000 Geography teachers. In his spare time, Matt used to like getting out into the mountains as much as possible however nowadays, he is more likely to be found sword fighting in the garden or watching Frozen (I know, right!) with his two very energetic children!

Patrick is a founding member of Offgrid Italia and Offgrid Vision. He has an MSc in Environment and Development from Manchester University. After seeing the documentary "Garbage Warrior” he volunteered with Earthship Biotecture in Malawi in 2013 and then attended their Academy in Taos, New Mexico the following year. In 2016 he built a tyre / glass bottle dome in Northern Italy and lead an Earthbag build in Burkina Faso. In 2017 he worked for Earthship Biotecture to build a house for future teachers in Nepal. He is currently involved in a 2 million euro project to build a Refugee centre in Annemasse.
Dr. Steve MacFeely | Why understanding population estimates, population projections and population demography is important

Steve is the Head of Statistics and Information at the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development in Geneva, Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Policy Studies at University College Cork in Ireland and a Director of the International Statistical Literacy Project. Before working at UNCTAD, Steve was the Assistant Director-General at the Central Statistics Office in Ireland where he established the 'Professional Diploma in Official Statistics & Policy Evaluation' with the Institute of Public Administration. He has published over twenty papers in peer reviewed journals on a range of topics including family business, tourism, cross-border shopping, input-output, regional policy, data infrastructure and SDGs.

John advises on solutions to climate change for a more sustainable future (reducing pollution, healthier and safer lives, better and more jobs). He is an advocate for putting a price on carbon, science-based targets and solutions such as: Project Drawdown-100 solutions to reverse climate change and The Solutions Project-100% electrification by 100% renewable energy. John’s career spans 30 years in management, coaching & consulting in Switzerland, the US and Mexico. He is a graduate of the Geneva School of Business Administration, IE Business School and Cambridge University.

How do we know when something is causing something else or just happening at the same time - causation or correlation? The origins of climate change have been hotly debated and even now there are those that deny the link between the rise in greenhouse admissions and the enhanced greenhouse effect. I will explore how we can understand the debate looking through the lens of TOK.
