SOFTWARE TO INCREASE THE EASE OF ACCESS FOR CLINICIANS TO SEARCH AN INTERNAL DATABASE DEPICTING EXAMPLES OF CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE

A central tenet of Anatomy and Physiology is that the function of an organ is tied to its structure. A catalog containing images of morphological abnormalities linked to their associated physiological outcomes can be used for diagnostic training. We have developed a software frontend to search a database of heart abnormalities. The database has previous iterations, but those were not compliant with privacy laws for searching nor is it in a user-friendly format. Using Microsoft Access, we developed software to allow a user to search with natural language that corresponds to the diverse ways to catalog and identify various cardiac morphological abnormalities. This first proof-of-concept software will be used to demonstrate its utility in order to obtain funding for professional coders to update the software with the appropriate level of security.
