If you are experiencing difficulties in finding participants, it is encouraged to do a shoutout in the Chat Room of your Ignite Course to see if other students are living locally or are available virtually to volunteer their assistance.
You could also try using the forum within your course on IGNITE.
Please contact the Online Learning Team here to discuss this situation and options will be provided, such as utilising a case study.
Trainer Experience is not compulsory. However, it does contribute to the MTL1 certification on top of the Master Trainer qualification. It is highly recommended to complete Trainer Experience, as this gives Warriors an opportunity to gain essential exposure in the fitness industry and assists in being job-ready for a career as a Fitness Professional.
You can commence the 30 hours of Trainer Experience at any time during the Personal Trainer component. Instructions on downloading the Gyymi app, arrange gym placement and logging hours are provided in the 'Setting Up For Success' module in your Orientation course.
You are welcome to utilise virtual platforms such as Zoom, Skype, or Google Meets to conduct and record any practical components. If selecting this method of filming, please ensure that the URL link provided for the video is set to ‘public access’ so that the Online Coaches can easily view and assess this. It’s best to view all participants with the layout options while recording the session.
To meet the assessment criteria and associated Units of Competency, group-based exercise sessions require a minimum of 6 participants. If you experience difficulties in finding 6+ participants, it is encouraged to do a shoutout in the Master Trainer Online Facebook group to see if any Warriors are living locally or are available virtually to volunteer their assistance.
You may also utilise the forum within your course on IGNITE.
If you are conducting this as part of an assessment, and the assessment does not specify the environment, you are welcome to conduct workout sessions outside a gym facility. However, it is highly recommended that there is access to a range of basic and typically affordable exercise equipment such as resistance bands and dumbbells. You can also improvise exercises or equipment using household items (e.g. using a chair to perform tricep dips and box squats; performing incline push-ups from a kitchen bench; using 2 water bottles as dumbbells, having a broomstick mimic a barbell, etc.).
If you are unable to access the facilities and equipment required for an assessment please contact the Online Learning Team here.
You are being assessed on the interpretation of blood pressure results and not physically taking this measurement. There are a couple of ways of obtaining this information:
Purchase an affordable blood pressure cuff from Amazon, K-Mart or Chemist Warehouse
Have the client contact their GP to obtain their last known blood pressure measurement from within the last 6 months
Have the client visit their local Chemist for a complimentary reading
You are permitted to wear casual fitness attire during filmed practical components if the AIF polo has not yet been received. Please ensure that personal presentation is professional, clean and tidy e.g. wearing closed-in shoes, avoiding stringy singlets and caps, etc.
Zoom and Google Meets are highly recommended platforms for recording practical components, especially as they are free to use. Please provide the shareable URL link of the video recording in the assessment submission, ensuring that the privacy settings are changed to “public” to remove any viewing restrictions for the Online Learning Team.
Mobile phones and laptop webcams are the most accessible tools to use for filming practical components. Ensure that the resolution settings are on the lower end of the spectrum, as this will assist with faster uploading to Google Drive. If filming from a mobile phone, you can upload videos directly to Google Drive by downloading the application and logging in, or via your mobile’s web browser.
Head into the Orientation Course under the 2nd module, 'Setting Up For Success' and click Online Set up Success for a How to video of how to do upload a challenge.
Uploading videos for your challenges is easy to do, but there are several roadblocks that can slow you down. Head into the Orientation Course under the 2nd module, 'Setting Up For Success' for a How to video of how to do this.
Video-hosting platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo and Dropbox are recommended if files cannot be uploaded to the AIF Google Drive. Ensure that the privacy settings are changed to “Public” to remove any viewing restrictions for the Online Learning Team.
As the Online Learning Team does not have access to AIF Google Drives, assessments and supporting evidence must be uploaded via the IGNITE submission page. This upload alerts the Online Learning Team that your assessment is ready for grading.
Once you've submitted your completed challenge it is placed in our grading cue. We aim to take no longer than 10 business days to grade your submission. In busy periods, it may take longer, and in quieter periods it's usually much quicker.
Please note, we do not accept partially completed challenges. We understand getting feedback prior to submitting a challenge is desired by some, but this significantly increases the time it takes for us to grade your challenges. Reach out to your Online Coaches for feedback on your work or attend one of our tutorials to see how you can improve prior to submission.
It is recommended to use editing software such as Adobe PDF or Lumin PDF to input information into PDF documents. These platforms are free to download to PC/laptop devices. Lumin PDF can also be linked as an App to the AIF Google Drive. Simply open the PDF document and at the top of the screen in the centre you should be prompted with an 'Open with Google Docs' and a drop down arrow. Click the drop down arrow and choose 'Edit with Lumin PDF'.
It is recommended to use mobile phone apps such as CamScanner or xScan to take a picture of printed documentation. Most Smartphones will also have a feature to “scan documents”, e.g. via the Notes app on iPhone. These apps will convert several photos or images into a singular, neat and tidy PDF that makes it easier for the Online Learning Team to review and grade.
Yes. As the Online Learning Team does not have access to AIF Google Drives, the revised assessment must be re-uploaded via the IGNITE submission page to prompt a grading notification.

You are expected to have essential fitness testing equipment such as a tape measure (which can be purchased from a supermarket), body scales and a stopwatch timer (app on a mobile phone). For fitness assessments requiring specialised equipment such as a Sit-and-Reach Box, modified versions of the test can be conducted without this or improvising with household items, e.g. using a milk crate or long shoebox instead of the Sit-and-Reach Box.
Assessments that require special equipment will provide alternative options for those who can't use the recommended equipment.
