Handprint Ladybug

Materials:

For this project you will need something round to trace, black and white colored pencils, glue stick, scissors, pencil and red and black construction paper.

Tip: There are usually lots of round items that work great for tracing in the kitchen! You can also use crayons instead of colored pencils. And, if you don't have construction paper, just color any plain paper to make it fit!

Step 1:

Trace your circle on the black construction paper.

Be sure to trace it towards the side of the paper, not in the middle. This will leave us enough paper for other parts of our ladybug.

Step 2:

Carefully cut out your circle.

Step 3:

Draw 6 legs, 2 antennas, and an oval for the head.

Then carefully cut all of them out

You should have all your lady bug pieces.

Step 4:

Glue 3 legs on each side of your circle, then glue on the head and the antennas.

Step 5:

Trace one hand on the side of your red construction paper.

Then, trace your other hand right beside it.

Step 6:

Take your black colored pencil and add polka dots all over both of your hands.

Step 7:

Carefully cut out both hands.

Now you have your ladybug body and wings.

Step 8:

Glue on your ladybug wings.

Step 9:

To finish, take your white colored pencil and draw the ladybug a face.

This project helps students with hand-eye coordination by having them trace and cut.
