Zentangle Weave

Materials

For this project you will need 1 sheet of construction paper, one sheet of white paper, glue stick, a pencil, a ruler and a marker.

Step 1:

Fold your construction paper in half.

Step 2:

Mark every inch along the folded edge of the paper.

Then move the ruler down, and mark every inch again.

Step 3:

From the fold, measure over 5 inches and make a mark.

Do this at the top and bottom.

Step 4:

Match up the marks that were 5 inches from the fold and draw a line.

This line shows us where we stop cutting.

Step 5:

Now match up the original 1 inch marks from the fold to the no cut line.

Step 6:

Leave the paper folded, and cut the 1 inch lines up to the no cut line. Do not cut past that line.

Step 7:

Now take the white paper, ruler and pencil.

Mark every 1 inch on the top and bottom of the paper. Do this all the way to 9 inches.

Step 8:

Then, just like before, match up your 1 inch marks to create strips. You need 9 strips.

Step 9:

Cut out your 9- one inch strips.

Step 10:

Now you will weave your white strips in and out of your construction paper.

Slide each white strip all the way to the edge before beginning the next weave.

Each white strip should alternate how you start your weave. By doing this you will create a checkered pattern.

Step 11:

Once you have finished weaving, flip your paper over and glue down all of the tabs at the end so that they all stay in place.

Step 12:

Go back to the front. Now you will need your marker. In each of the white spots, create a zentangle.

A zentangle is a free doodle that often consists of patterns. Let your marker wonder and create different designs.
