Negative Space Zentangle

Materials:

For this project you will need a black and white piece of paper, a pencil, scissors, a black marker, and glue.

Step 1:

Fold your black piece of paper in half, and cut along the fold line.

Step 2:

Take one half piece of black paper and fold one corner down so that the edge matches with the bottom of the paper. Cut the rectangle that is left over off.

Step 3:

Open up the folded triangle to make a square. One each edge draw a small organic shape. Make sure that the shape is touching the edge of the square and that it does not touch or overlap with any other shape.

Step 4:

Cut out each of your organic shapes and keep all pieces, even what is left of your square.

Step 5:

Glue what is left of your square in the center of your white paper.

Step 6:

Take the cut out pieces and glue them on the outside of your square as if they folded out.

Step 7:

With your black marker, draw a zentagle design in the negative space (the white space left from the cut out shapes). A zentagle is a doodle of different shapes and patterns. There is no right or wrong way to draw a zentagle. Draw what feels right!
