Tinfoil Shield

Materials:

For this project you will need tinfoil, construction paper, permanent markers, glue stick and scissors.

Step 1:

Fold the construction paper in half.

Step 2:

Draw half of a shield on the folded edge of the construction paper.

Step 3:

Keep the construction paper folded and cut out the half shield to create a full symmetrical shield.

Step 4:

Take the shield and place it on the tinfoil. Trace the shield onto the tinfoil using a permanent marker.

Step 5:

Cut out the tinfoil shield. The tinfoil rips very easily, so cut carefully.

Step 6:

Glue the tinfoil shield to the paper shield to keep it sturdy.

Step 7:

Use permanent markers to decorate the shield.

Shields were often decorated with an animal to represent the family it came from. It also was painted with patterns and could include the family name.
