Students will begin mastery of the NEW Louisiana Science Standards, which are an adaptation of the Next Generation Science Standards. This new curriculum is designed to merge the principles of science and engineering with a greater focus on students demonstrating their knowledge by creating models and testing a variety of concepts.

Headings should include: first and last name, teacher name (KING), block, date (DAY, MONTH, and YEAR) on every assignment you turn in AND handouts you receive. This should be in the upper left-hand corner of all pages of an assignment. Any multiple-page assignment must be labeled with heading and stapled before it is turned in. Unclaimed work will not be graded. This applies to digital and virtual assignments as well, ALL ASSIGNMENTS must be turned into the proper location at the designated time.
You turn in your work online in Google Classroom. Depending on the type of assignment and attachments, you’ll see Turn in or Mark as Done. If you need to edit work that you turned in, you can unsubmit the assignment before the due date, make your changes, and resubmit. However, any assignment turned in or marked done after the due date will be recorded with any appropriate late work penalties.
Homework is assigned on an as needed basis and must be turned in ON TIME. If a student does not turn in an assignment it will be recorded as a zero.
As a responsibility of the student, late work will be accepted up to TWO (2) weeks from the original due date for a letter grade lower. AFTER THAT, late work will be accepted for HALF (50%) of the value of the assignment! Extended absences will be handled on a case by case basis. If you are absent, YOU are responsible for getting missed assignments from the teacher or a classmate. Any test or quiz missed by an excused absence will be made up within two class periods of the student returning to school. Any test missed by an unexcused absence will be made up the next class period the student is present in class. Failure to makeup a test or quiz will result in a zero. Homework is due upon return to class immediately after the missed day. Alternate labs will be provided for missed lab days. If work is not made up, it will be recorded as a zero.
All late work must be entered into the late work form, found in google classroom. Late work will not be accepted unless this form is filled out.

At MMAM students are expected to be in class every day and on time. It is solely the STUDENT’S responsibility to retrieve and make up missed work.
Late Work or Absent Work— Late work will not be accepted. If you are absent, YOU are responsible for getting missed assignments from the teacher or a classmate. You will have the number of my classes you miss to make up for the absent work (for example, if you miss 2 of my classes, then you will have the next 2 of my class periods to turn in the absent work (this equates to roughly 3 or 4 days to complete the work)).
Any test or quiz missed by an excused absence will be made up within two class periods of the student returning to school. Any test missed by an unexcused absence will be made up the next class period the student is present in class. Failure to make-up a test or quiz will result in a zero. Homework is due upon return to class immediately after the missed day. Alternate labs will be provided for missed lab days. If work is not made up, it will be recorded as a zero.
Students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 to retain enrollment at MMAMS. Each unit will end with a unit test or performance task. Students will receive a daily participation grade. Other assignments for a grade may include labs, lab reports, consensus models, exit tickets, etc. Parents are encouraged to log on to the online grade-book WEEKLY to stay up to date on student performance. Detailed Grade Reports will be given at the time of 4 ½-week progress reports and 9-week report cards.
