Ms. Corsino's Math Class

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to a new school year!

I am so excited to have your child in my class throughout this year. It is my goal for my 4th graders to be successful every day, I am expecting them to have a depth growth in mathematical understanding, the ability to prove what they know, model, learn, teach, and collaborate with their group teams.

I believe that the key component to success in life is confidence. Confidence means firm trust, “The feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something.” For many children and adults confidence in math is something that they might not have. Fortunately confidence is a feeling that can be acquired. In order for my students to obtain confidence in math they must have a safe- conducive learning environment. In my classroom, the culture of trust is a part of students’ community atmosphere on their daily basis activity, they are welcome to make mistakes but strongly encourage to create and develop strategies to correct them, they will work as a team, and learn to grow in their math abilities. Students will respect their peers and teachers. On a team, each member has unique powers, strengths, and interests to contribute the success of the whole class.

When working together they build a good relationship and all members excel beyond what is expected they could have on their own. With all these positive qualities, I can reach my goal for this amazing group of students, they will leave with an excitement and confidence in math because while still challenged they have the tools, knowledge, and skills to conquer!

I am looking forward to a great year.

Sincerely Yours,

Marites Corsino
