Emmaus High School
I'm a 1991 graduate of Emmaus High School as is my husband. We were in Advanced Placement United States History together our senior year and have been married twenty-nine years. Ironically, two classes I teach, I also had as a student, American Studies II Honors and AP US History.
At Albright College in 1995 I earned my B.A. in History as well as my secondary education certification in social studies. Five years later I earned my M.A. in History from East Stroudsburg University, while teaching in the Poconos. I wrote my thesis on The Salem Witchcraft Trials. I began my teaching career at Strousburg Junior High School (SJHS) until 2003 when I joined the Emmaus High School (EHS) faculty.
During my teaching career I have served as a yearbook advisor, newspaper advisor, softball coach, peer mediation advisor, and as a cooperating teacher for student teachers for several colleges. I've also been a member of Report Cards Committee, Use of Time Committee, Accreditation for Growth, and Curriculum Committee. Additionally, I was trained for the Student Assistance Program Team (SAP) in 1997 and served on the SJHS SAP team until I came to EHS. I then served on the EHS SAP team for twelve years until the 2016-2017 school year due to scheduling. In 2018 I became a Gifted Support Teacher, which was an easy transition since I have worked with Gifted students and their parents my entire teaching career. Due to the social studies numbers for the 2023-24 school year I resumed teaching six classes and no longer had the Gifted Support duty. This school year marks my 30th year of teaching.
My family and I live in the East Penn School District along with our sons, one who is a 2020 EHS graduate and 2024 West Chester University graduate and the other is an EHS senior. My husband and I are passionate about domestic and international travel. We recently returned from our 30th anniversary trip to the UK and Ireland. I also enjoy tennis, swimming, biking, kayaking, and photography. Additionally, I am on the Shelter House Board of Directors and we volunteer/foster for the Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue. We've had Labrador Retrievers for 27 years and currently have two black Labs.
Check out our Family Tech Resources Website! The purpose of this site is to provide both students and families of the East Penn School District resources on the technology they are using in the classroom. Some of the resources are created by East Penn, while others may be created by the companies themselves.
