Connie Arnold is the orchestra director at Emmaus High School and Lower Macungie Middle School. She teaches string instrument lessons at Eyer Middle School where Mr. Williams is the orchestra director. Mrs. Arnold earned a Bachelor Degree in Music Therapy from Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA, a Music Education Certificate from Eastern University in St. Davids, PA and a Master's Degree in Music Education from Kutztown University in Kutztown, PA. She also holds ESL Certification.
When she's not teaching, Mrs. Arnold enjoys birding, hiking, and disc golfing, but mostly she enjoys spending time with her family: especially her two granddaughters.
In the East Penn Secondary Orchestra program, each school has an orchestra, and group lessons are offered at both Eyer and LMMS. Descriptions of each program are below.
The Emmaus High School Orchestra is a string orchestra comprised of students in grades 9-12. Emphasis is placed on the development of individual instrumental technique as well as small ensemble practice and skills. The orchestra performs a variety of orchestral literature from many styles and periods on two concerts each year, once in November and once in April. There are also two additional small string ensembles, Sinfonia and Chamber that are audtioned groups, rehearse after-school, and have additional performances.
The Lower Macungie Middle School Orchestra is a string orchestra comprised of students in grades 6-8. Orchestra rehearses every other day during period 9. In addition, pull-out small group lessons are offered one day per six-day cycle, rotating through different periods. Technical skills, note-reading skills and musicianship are the key components of small-group lessons, preparing students for success in orchestra.
The Eyer Middle School Orchestra is a string orchestra comprised of students in grades 6-8. Orchestra rehearses every other day during period 9. In addition, pull-out small group lessons are offered one day per six-day cycle, rotating through different periods. Technical skills, note-reading skills and musicianship are the key components of small-group lessons, preparing students for success in orchestra. Mrs. Arnold teaches lessons, and Mr. Williams is the orchestra director.
Most students in the East Penn School District rent their instruments, but there are some school instruments available based on need and availability. In addition to instruments, there are string supplies that are necessary and some that are helpful.

Emailing me with questions is great, but you can always see what we're doing in class or check on upcoming assignments by getting connected on schoology. Key documents to look for in materials are : The handbook for all three schools, and What are We Doing This Week and The Lesson Schedule for the two middle schools.
This is my primary means of communication. General orchestra information, schedules and communcations can be found on schoology. Parent emails will be created from the HANDBOOK GOOGLE FORM found at the end of the handbook. This is crucial to receiving emails apart from schoology messages.
Check out our Family Tech Resources Website! The purpose of this site is to provide both students and families of the East Penn School District resources on the technology they are using in the classroom. Some of the resources are created by East Penn, while others may be created by the companies themselves.
