The Adventures of Odysseus

We have been reading about the adventures Odysseus had after the Trojan War in Ancient Greece. This is a map that shows the journey so far. Odysseus is nearly back to Ithaca!

Look at some of our work!

We wrote poems about the living and the dead when Odysseus visited the Land of the Dead to speak to Tiresias.

In March some of our class went to Pendarren in Wales. We spent a week participating in outdoor activities, such as: rock climbing, visiting the Big Pit, canoeing, mountain walking and visiting the sea. We were able to listen to a re-telling of a chapter from the book we are reading in class, The Adventures of Odysseus.

Maths Week

Year 6 participated in a week (28th January - 1st February) filled with Maths activities across the school, such as: Escape Room Challenge, Treasure Hunt, Problem Solving Workshop and Maths Games.

The London Buddhist Centre

To deepen our understanding of our RE topic in Buddhism, we visited the London Buddhist Centre. We asked plenty of questions about the story of the Four Sights. We also participated in a guided meditation and were able to listen to the silence in the room and relax.

As part of our Health and Well-Being curriculum, we have been learning about the concept of what is a balanced lifestyle.

Lilac class believe and define that a healthy, happy mind can contribute to good health. Balanced living means having a positive outlook, focusing on good habits, and lowering stress.

How To Have A Balanced Lifestyle?

Taking Care Of Your Physical Health

*Eat a balanced diet rich in vegetables, fruits, and proteins

*Regular exercise

*Get 7-9 hours of sleep every night

*Have relaxation time (E.g. Meditation, yoga, time out)

With this in mind we then discussed and wrote poems about good and not so good feelings.

Natural History Museum

In Science we have been learning about Evolution and the Classification of Living Things. Our workshop was about Evolution whereby we were about to show what we have been learning by answering questions with confidence and interest. We saw many exhibitions such as fossilised marine reptiles like the plesiosaur discovered by Mary Anning who was a pioneering palaeontologist we had studied about in class. All round we had a fabulous day out. Thank you to the adults that helped out.

We enjoy exploring books and going on our own reading journey in our class and school library.

The more that you

you will know.

The more that you learn

the more places

you will go!
