Hello, Eanes Elementary families!
My name is Williams Findlay, and I will be teaching 5th Grade this year, including rotations in Science, English Language Arts, and U.S. History.
I grew up in Austin, Texas and graduated from Cedar Creek Elementary, Hill Country Middle School, and Westlake High School. Go Chaps! I then earned my Bachelor’s degree in English at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. After working in other fields, I decided to take a sabbatical to teach English as a foreign language in Chongqing, China. What began as an exciting way to travel quickly transformed into a passion for education. While I treasured my time overseas as an amazing learning experience, ultimately I wanted to pursue a career in education in the States. So after living thousands of miles away, I’ve returned to our wonderful Eanes community. It’s great to be home! I'm inspired by the professional commitment to student success my colleagues display every single day at Eanes Elementary, and I’m honored to be a part of that important work. Children are remarkable, and I endeavor to guide each student I work with in a positive direction as they navigate life's journey.
When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy cooking, reading, gardening, and playing with my pets (we have a cat and a dog). I love the many beautiful trails and outdoor spaces of Austin, and go hiking or kayaking around town when I can. Playing the piano is my favorite hobby, and I'm always striving to add more Bach, Beethoven, or Chopin to my repertoire. I’m also a proud uncle, and have four talented nieces and a nephew who never cease to inspire me with their unique personalities and surprising insights.
I’m delighted to be a part of the Eanes Elementary community, and look forward to the amazing year we are going to have together!
