Hello Cardinals! 

My name is Calais Hermosillo and this will be my second year teaching 5th and 5/6 math at VVE! I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and I graduated with my degree in Elementary Education at Northern Arizona University. Go JACKS!

Last year, I moved to Austin to complete my student teaching at FTE and loved it so much that I decided to stay! I feel so blessed to be surrounded by an amazing network of teachers and to have made so many wonderful memories here in Austin.

In my classroom I believe that inspiring young minds on their educational journey is my ultimate goal. As a teacher, I strive to create an environment where each student is embraced, motivated, and confident in their unique capabilities. I'm committed to nurturing a genuine enthusiasm for learning by  fostering critical thinking and igniting a sense of wonder. My objective is to not only foster academic knowledge but also essential life skills, preparing students to flourish in a dynamic world. 

My other passions besides teaching is traveling! I love exploring new places and learning about the history behind each place that I visit. Understanding the rich history behind cultures is vital in appreciating and connecting with the world around you and I hope to bring all of my experience and appreciation of differences to my class. In my day to day I enjoy rock climbing at ABP, reading, painting, yoga, and playing volleyball with my friends.
