About Me

Hello,

I am Matt Bailey. This will be my second year at Hill Country Middle School. This will be my 11th year of teaching all together. I taught for 6 years at West Ridge Middle School here in Eanes. In 2016 I left the district and I went to teach in my home state of Wisconsin for two years and Colorado for one year. I am extremely excited and happy to be back to HCMS this year and to be a part of the Eanes family again. There is no better place to be.

I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Superior with a bachelors degree in education. I began my career in northern Minnesota at a small school working as a special education paraprofessional. After 4 years in that position, I moved to Austin, TX and began teaching full time. In my 11 years of teaching, I have taught special education, Texas & American history, and physical education. Teaching is my number one passion and I can't think of anything else I would rather do.

When I am not in the classroom you can find me outdoors. I love hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and traveling. I am a big sports fan that loves to play and watch almost every sport, especially basketball. I am always rooting on my Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers, and all the University of Wisconsin Badgers sports....However, since moving to Austin I have taken in the UT Longhorns as my second favorites.
