Math Workshop

Math Workshop takes place first thing in the morning. We currently use Envision Math as supplemental curriculum, this is accessible both in print and on the iPad, meaning that students can complete lessons, assessments, and games with just one swipe of a finger.

Math units are organized by concept, with each topic building on the previous one. At the beginning of each unit, students are given a pre-test that assesses what they already know about the topic. After analyzing these results, the teacher divides students into 4 groups so that she can appropriately differentiate instruction, meeting each student where they are instead pushing them ahead too quickly or holding them back from engaging with more challenging concepts. During Math Workshop, students rotate around the room to math stations, examples of what those might include are listed below:
