I am thrilled to be a part of the fabulous fifth grade team and the Forest Trail family. This is my 33rd year as a teacher and my second year at Forest Trail!
I grew up in the DFW area and attended Baylor University in Waco where I received a bachelors degree and teaching certification in Elementary Education. After graduation, I returned to Dallas where I taught fourth grade at Grace Academy of Dallas, then third grade in Highland Park ISD. I moved to McKinney where I lived for 8 years and taught 3rd, 4th and 7th grade Language Arts. I then spent 9 years in Melissa ISD as a 6th grade Language Arts teacher.
In 2015, I returned to my college town where I was blessed to have the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles in Midway ISD, including 5th grade Language Arts teacher, 6th grade reading teacher and instructional coach at both the elementary and middle school levels. One of my favorite experiences was my year with two Baylor teaching interns--what a blast! While in Waco, I also completed my masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M Commerce.
Last summer I moved to Austin to be closer to my boyfriend and am thrilled to have found my teaching home at Forest Trail! I am the proud mama of one daughter, Gracie, who graduated from Baylor and is a sixth grade Social Studies teacher in China Spring ISD; and one son, Hage, who is a junior marketing and management major at Baylor.
In my spare time, I love to cheer for my Baylor Bears (Sic 'em!), eat TexMex and enjoy live music. I also like to sew, craft, read and travel.
I'm so excited for this year at Forest Trail, with students I know from teaching fourth grade last year and a team of teachers I adore! Fifth grade is such a special year, and I am overjoyed to get to be a small part of your child's fifth grade experience!
