Kayla Chronister, LPC-A, she/her/hers
My name is Kayla, and I’m a licensed associate counselor who works with children, adolescents, and adults. As a therapist, my style is warm, supportive, and rooted in empathetic curiosity about who you are and your story. In therapy, we'll work to deepen your understanding of your emotions and experiences, then figure out how to use that understanding to take steps toward the goals that matter to you. I use mindfulness-based interventions from DBT, CBT, and ACT alongside attachment-based and narrative therapies.
Before earning my Master’s in Counseling Psychology, I spent ten years in education and early childhood development, working with children as young as 2 all the way up to college students. I have experience working with adoptees, children in the foster care system, and children with developmental trauma, and I am passionate about serving these populations. When working with children, I incorporate developmentally appropriate play, art, and movement to create an environment where self-expression feels safe and enjoyable.
I am excited to meet you or your child wherever you are, whether you’re experiencing challenges with anxiety or depression; struggling to get along with important people in your life; or navigating major life transitions such as changes in custody or family structure, starting college, or becoming a parent. I look forward to getting to know you.
