Inclement Weather Procedures

If severe weather impacts the safety of our students and staff, the Superintendent will decide on the closure of facilities, delayed start, or early release of students. Information about late openings, early releases, or school cancellations will be communicated through local media outlets and posted on the EPISD website, Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and EPISD Headlines Around the District as needed.

The decision to close schools will be primarily influenced by the condition of district roads and/or other environmental factors that could pose a safety risk to our children. In inclement weather, the EPISD Inclement Weather Advisory Committee will convene at 4:00 am to analyze up-to-date information and formulate a response plan.

The EPISD Inclement Weather Advisory Committee will provide all relevant information to the Superintendent, who will then decide to delay or close EPISD facilities. School will only be canceled in specific circumstances, including extreme weather, facility equipment failure, environmental hazards, or a public crisis that poses a significant safety risk.
