Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan

Safety continues to be our top priority and we will follow TEA and CDC guidance in our efforts to keep students, staff, and families safe. Below are the procedures Eagle Pass ISD will be taking to promote a safe school year.

Dear parents, students, and staff,

First and foremost, I would like to welcome everybody back to our 2021-2022 school year. Eagle Pass ISD has and will continue to be committed to do everything it can to create a safe and healthy environment for all students and staff.

I would like to inform our community that our programs will be available 100% in-person, five days a week. We are eager to see our students return to not only the classroom, but to all extra-curricular programs. Additional support will be provided to those students that experienced significant learning loss due to school closures in 2020.

Eagle Pass ISD has also developed a four-tier response plan to address our community's COVID-19 situation. We will begin our 2021-2022 school year in Tier 1. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) currently does not allow Tier 2 - Tier 4 to be implemented by school districts at this time.

  • Tier 1: 100% in-person instruction, 5-days per week.

  • Tier 2: Students, if parents decide, may receive remote instruction. Staff will report to campus.

  • Tier 3: All students will receive remote instruction. Staff will report to campus.

  • Tier 4: All students will receive remote instruction. Staff will work from home.

As new information is released by the TEA or CDC, we will adjust our procedures and our response plan tier accordingly.

In accordance with the local health authorities order that went into effect at 12:01 AM on August 12, 2021, all Eagle Pass ISD staff, students and visitors should wear a mask while inside all district facilities until further notice. Additionally, disinfecting of surfaces in our buildings and buses and frequent hand washings will continue to be a priority. Social distancing will be encouraged when possible.

If a campus is made aware that a student is considered a close contact, the campus will notify the student’s parents. EPISD will protect the privacy of all our stakeholders.

Our campuses will welcome back our students on Monday, August 16th. Should you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact your child’s campus. I personally thank you for your continued support during this difficult time and look forward to having a safe and outstanding school year.

Sincerely,

Samuel Mijares,

Superintendent of Schools
