GOAL
To improve ECO’s data integrity and build a foundation for data-driven decision making, 100% of ECO Transit’s data inventory will be complete, accurate, and incorporated into operational decision-making by December, 31, 2023
PRIORITY AREA
Create a Resilient Economy
Goal Status (as of end of Q2 2022)
STATUS
Current focus is on cleaning/verifying ECO Transit foundational data (mileage, hours, ridership) and developing quality assurance and control procedures and reporting standard operating plans. Staff have also begun to work on identifying appropriate data sources and/or metrics for paratransit, vehicle maintenance, and customer service. This is building the proper foundation for directly connecting data to decision-making protocols on target with the goal of connecting 100% of these data sets to protocols by end of Q4 2023.
Current Status - Lead Measures (as of end of Q2 2022)
MEASURE
Identify all available data sets in ECO Transit systems
A total of 27 data sets have been identified as of the end of Q3 2022
Established a regular quarterly reporting cadence for foundational fixed route data (mileage, hours, ridership, operating costs).
The initial batch of common data sets have been identified and prepared for cleaning
Initial focus was specifically on procedures for collecting and reporting foundational data- mileage, hours, and ridership
Focus is now on paratransit, vehicle maintenance and customer service
MEASURE
Clean and enable interoperability of ECO Transit data sets
As of end of Q3 2022, 11 data sets have been fully cleaned and work continues to clean identified data sets and to establish quality assurance and control measures for each data set.
MEASURE
To operationalize the data for data-driven decision-making, identify clearly articulated desired indicators and benchmarks
39 desired indicators have been set as of Q3 2022
Base data for mileage, hours and ridership was used to identify primary desired indicators
Began reviewing data related to vehicle use and condition. New staff member onboarded who will be developing processes and reports in this area.
MEASURE
Once desired indicators are set, begin to align/link data sets to specific indicators to enable measurement and tracking
20 data sets identified during Q3 2022 have been directly linked to desired indicators
MEASURE
Use linked metrics to generate regular reporting on desired indicators
24 desired indicator reports have been generated by end of Q3 2022
Began developing quarterly reports for paratransit ridership and costs.
New templates for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting were created to centralize and standardize foundational data collection. Work is also underway to build standard operating procedures for each completed data set.
