Accelerated Grade 8

All 8th grade students at the Eagle Academy for Young Men are enrolled in Regents-based mathematics, and one class to also take Regents-based science. All Regents-based courses in the 8th grade are scheduled for 93 minutes of instruction per day instead of the standard 45 minutes.

Algebra I

8th grade students are enrolled in Algebra I instead of the standard 8th grade mathematics course. All 8th grade scholars are expected to take the New York State Regents exam in June 2016 instead of the 8th grade exam. Note: as of 11/25/16, New York State has not yet received a federal NCLB waiver to exempt students from the 8th grade mathematics test. NYS expects to receive the waiver.

Living Environment

Students in class 802 are also enrolled in Living Environment instead of the standard 8th grade science course. Scholars in 802 are expected to take the New York State Regents exam in June 2016 instead of the 8th grade science exam.
