West STEM Camp

Welcome to the West Elementary After-School STEM Camp webpage. The camp’s purpose is to provide experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Students engage in hands-on, project-based learning in the area of engineering. Students work together in groups to answer questions like, “How large should I make the canopy of this parachute?” or “What material should I use for the blades of my windmill?” they collaborate, think critically and creatively, and communicate with other members of their teams.

Our program will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We meet at West and will focus on one, STEM unit at a time. For each group a unit will last approximately one month. 3rd and 4th grade students are one group and 1st and 2nd grade students are the other group.
