Important parts of a Workbook



Ribbons

Home


Access to the most commonly used commands. The Home tab is selected by default whenever you open Excel.

Insert


Insert charts, tables, and more.

Page Layout


Change the print formatting. (margin width, page orientation, etc.


Formulas


Access to the most commonly used functions and formulas in Excel. They can help calculate and analyze numerical data, such as averages and percentages.

Data


Makes it easy to sort and filter information.

Review


Access Excel's powerful editing features, including comments and track changes.

View


Allows you to switch between different views for your workbook and freeze panes for easy viewing.

Contextual Tabs


Contextual tabs will appear on the Ribbon when working with certain items, like tables and pictures. These tabs contain special command groups that can help you format these items as needed.

Formatting Cells

  • Font
  • Font size
  • Bold / Italics / Underline
  • Color font
  • Fill cell color
  • Alignment
  • Numbers, dates, etc. (custom)

Modify: Cells, Columns and Rows



Double click in between columns to auto adjust the column width



Right click on column letter to insert or delete a column


Do the same thing for a row, by right clicking the row number.




Right click to “cut” column, then Right click to “insert cut cells”




Select cell, click wrap text
