ActivInspire: Create Containers

Containers are a cool way for your audience to interact with a flipchart while providing immediate feedback. Use this webpage to:

    • Learn how to create containers for self-checking activities to increase student engagement.
    • Restrict movement on objects.
    • Add reward sounds to containers.
    • Add labels to objects.
Contain_Yourself.flipchart
  1. Download flipchart by clicking on the title of the flipchart. (be sure pop-up blockers are allowed for google sites)
  2. Then select the download button.
  3. Use the flipchart to practice creating containers. (the flipchart also has notes that give detailed instructions)

Types of Containers

1. Anything Container -

holds ANY object layered to the front of the container.

2. Specific Object Container -

Restrict Movement

There are times you want to restrict movement of an object when using containers. This helps when in presentation mode, the object won't move all over the place, but only in the direction you want it to move.

  1. Switch to Design Mode and ensure browsers are showing. (To view browsers, click on View menu and select Browsers.)
  2. Select the object to restrict.
  3. Select the Property Browser.
  4. Open the Restrictors section. (click the plus sign)
  5. Select the drop-down menu for the Can Move section.
  6. Choose one: freely, vertically, horizontally, along path, or no.

Create Labels/Captions for Objects

There are times when a label or caption is needed to clarify a specific object.

  1. Select object to add label/caption.
  2. Select the Property Browser.
  3. Open the Label section.
  4. Enter a caption name.
  5. If you only want caption to appear when hovered over, change "Behaviour" to 'Tooltip'.

Record your voice

Record your own voice to use in ActivInspire as a way to tell students they have done a good job!

  1. Go to Tools menu.
  2. Select More Tools.
  3. Select Sound Recorder.
  4. Click the record button and speak into the microphone. (The Toshiba has a built-in microphone)
  5. Save the sound file to the computer.
