United States History

I am now on maternity leave for the remainder of the school year. Please e-mail my substitute Ms. Jessica Nevarez if you have questions or concerns at jenevarez@dusd.net. Have a great summer and enjoy high school!

April 13, 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I will be embarking on maternity leave in a couple of weeks. As a result, students have until Friday April 20th to submit any late or missing work for the semester. My substitute for the remainder of the year will not be grading late work, they will be responsible for grading current and future work for the remainder of the school year. Students were given their individual progress reports that detail student progress and missing assignments for the semester. Please review with your student and log on to Parent Connect for updates.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at kgreenlee@dusd.net.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kristi Greenlee

Welcome to Social Studies 8! Over the course of the year, we will study the history & geography of the United States of America beginning with Columbus and the “discovery” of America through the Civil War and Reconstruction era. With each unit of study, we will be considering three year-long umbrella questions:

1. What did freedom mean to the nation’s founders and how did it change over time?

2. How and why did the United States expand?

3. Who is considered an American?

Please see the SS8 Classroom Syllabus for more specifics on classroom procedures.
