If you would like to print off your own booklet containing the challenges on the website then please follow this link.

Dear Students,

At a time where we are not able to access facilities and resources at school or in our communities like we normally would, beyond our lessons, the PE department feel a sense of responsibility to give you some ideas to keep you healthy and active through sport and exercise not only for your physical well-being, but for your social and mental well-being too.

The leading directives of maintaining and improving world health, including advice for avoiding conditions such as obesity, coronary heart disease, diabetes and more, comes from the World Health Organisation. They state the following:

‘Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.’

‘Physical activity is defined as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy expenditure. Physical activity includes exercise as well as other activities which involve bodily movement and are done as part of playing, working, active transportation, house chores and recreational activities’

Our vision

To maintain physical fitness and depth and breadth of attributes related to physical education during the present COVID19 situation, and for continued all-round development as participants and athletes.

Objectives

To provide opportunities and ideas to retain / improve social, physical and mental health by:

  • developing an understanding of various sports through related tasks;

  • challenging characteristics associated with participation in sports and exercise;

  • providing physical tasks that are associated with different sports that can be adapted using resources at home;

  • referring users to various external websites, where National Governing Bodies and other educational providers have already created a plethora of resources.

Over the course of your two week timetable, you should be looking to complete regular activities for your head, heart AND hands - you should do this on a 'pick n mix' basis: choose two tasks - both from a different section. Explore the tabs at the top of this page to find the options.

When you have finished your two tasks, you should complete this Google Form to share what you have been up to - this could be a written comment, a link (e.g. to a presentation or website), an audio file or visual evidence. One of the PE teachers will then get back to you with feedback. Alternatively, you can make a copy of this document and share it with your PE teacher if that is easier My Completed PE Challenge .

Good luck, and do not hesitate to get in touch via email if you have any questions!
