Trials: There are no trials for Kayaking. We welcome anyone who is interested in the sport to join the training sessions
Trainings: The school works very closely with the Central Otago Whitewater Club. The training is programmed by the club who had a resident coach for the season.
Events: There are various kayaking events and trips throughout the year - slalom, whitewater, Xtreme. NZSS events alternate between the North and South Island each year.
Cost: Training costs approx $200/term. North Island trip approx $1000 depending on fundraising.
Uniforms: School rash tops to compete in supplied.
Equipment Required: At the beginner level kayaks, paddles are supplied. Students are encouraged to get their own life vest and helmets. If they continue with the sport students are encouraged to purchase paddle and boat all of which can be sourced second hand.
Students are strongly encouraged to participate in Canoe Polo in terms 2 and 3. This is perfect environment in which to build up your kayaking skills.
